WBU Trials 2010 and Teams for 2011

Training Day

The selectors arranged a training day for all Welsh international players and trialists on Saturday 4 December 2010 at Cardiff Bridge club. More details.

Selectors

A new selection committee has been announced. They are Mike Close, Paul Denning, Linda Greenland, Julian Pottage and Alan Stephenson. There is now a Selectors' Blog here, where you can read about their activities and decisions.

Open Trials

The selection process for next year's Welsh Open teams is underway. There will be two Welsh teams in the Camrose next year, because we host the second weekend, so at least six pairs will be representing Wales.

There was a Pre-Trial at Llanddewi Community Hall on 21-22 August from which a number of pairs qualified for the final . The results of this trial are here.

Those pairs exempted last year were offered exemption to the final trials. Not all took up the offer. They were:

Ladies Trials

This year the Lady Milne takes place in Belfast on 15-17 April 2011.

The trials for the Welsh Ladies team was planned to be held on 11-12 December. They were postponed because of the weather and subsequently held on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 January 2011. The arrangements are detailed here. The trials results are here.

Seniors Trials

The selectors moved the Seniors Trials to Friday 18 & Saturday 19 March 2011 to avoid the clash with the Tollemache heats and to avoid a clash with the Executive meeting on Sunday 20 March.

Chairman's Cup

The WBU received an invitation to the Chairman's Cup in Örebro, Sweden from July 30th to August 4th. The organisers offer free entry and some accommodation for the week for the WBU team; the WBU will not be offering further support. Pairs who wished to be considered for a WBU team were asked to contact Neville by 19th March. More information.
